Breast Augmentation in New York City

Tired of living with breasts you don’t love? Reveal your best body and live your best life with some of the leading breast enhancement New York City can offer. Contact Marc Everett MD today to schedule your personal consultation.

Breasts come in all shapes and sizes — big, small, full, flat, firm, soft, perky, relaxed, symmetrical, asymmetrical — but despite this vast amount of natural variation, it isn’t always easy to embrace the figure you were born with. Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure that gives New York City women a fuller and more shapely bust that lasts for many years to come. With today’s advanced surgical techniques, your breast augmentation can be precisely tailored to your body and your goals, so you can finally reveal the real you: a woman who is feminine, confident and comfortable in her skin.

Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Marc Everett is the first choice of New York City area patients seeking breast augmentation. At Marc Everett MD, Dr. Everett offers two types of breast enhancement. Breast augmentation with implants improves breast size, shape and symmetry by placing silicone or saline implants under the existing breast tissue. Fat transfer breast augmentation allows patients to combine the body contouring effects of liposuction with the advantages of a natural, implant-less breast augmentation.

Dr. Everett believes every woman should love their bust. If you’re ready to discover the body you were always meant to have, visit Marc Everett MD in Manhattan or Queens to receive an evaluation and learn more about your options.

The Procedure

The Procedure

Many different options exist for those interested in undergoing breast augmentation, including the placement of the implant, the site of the incision and the type of synthetic implant used. Breast augmentation can also be performed alongside a breast lift for those seeking complete breast restoration. Dr. Everett will go over all options available to you so that you may make an informed decision prior to your surgery.

Breast augmentation is performed under general anesthesia and as an outpatient procedure, allowing patients to return home the same day as their surgery. After the incision is made in the predetermined location, a pocket is created either above or beneath the pectoral muscle. The implant is then put into place and filled or adjusted if necessary before closing the incision. The procedure lasts about one to two hours.

What Are Your Options?

The two main breast implant choices available for patients are silicone and saline implants. Both options are safe and provide satisfying results. Saline implants contain a nontoxic saltwater solution that can be filled and adjusted to each patient’s desired size. Silicone implants come in different sizes and are made of a thicker gel-like substance that feels more natural than saline implants. Both implant options are constructed with a silicone shell and share the same minimal risk of rupturing, although neither option will cause any damage to the body should a rupture occur.

Alongside varying sizes, implants also come in different shapes and textures. The shape of the implants may be round for an increase in size that yields greater cleavage, or teardrop-shaped for results that appear more anatomically natural. Dr. Everett and will discuss all available options with you.

All-Natural Fullness With Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation

Fat transfer breast augmentation improves the size and shape of the breasts by moving unwanted fat from another area of your body to your breasts. During the procedure, fat is removed using liposuction from a predetermined location. Small incisions will be made in the skin to allow for the insertion of a thin metal tube called a cannula. The cannula is used to suction out the fat, providing the body contouring effect of this two-in-one procedure. Common fat donor sites include the abdomen, thighs and flanks.

Once the appropriate amount of fat has been removed, it will be injected into the breasts. No incisions on the breasts are necessary and the amount of volume added can be tailored to each patient’s desired results. Fat transfer breast augmentation is entirely natural and the surviving fat lasts indefinitely. The procedure takes between two and four hours, depending on how much liposuction is needed.

Breast Implant Placement

Breast implants can be placed either under the muscle (submuscular) or just under the skin (subglandular). Submuscular implants have the benefit of feeling more natural but may require a longer and more uncomfortable recovery period. Most doctors recommended submuscular implants for the best results, but both options will be considered when deciding what is best for your body and your goals.

Incision Sites

The incision sites for the implants can be located in three different areas: under the breast fold (inframammary), around the nipple (periareolar) or in the armpit (axillary). All three options allow for scars that are inconspicuous and will not distract from your new breasts. Dr. Everett will discuss each option with you and make a recommendation depending on the varying factors of your breast augmentation.

Recovery & Results

Unlike breast implant augmentation, fat transfer breast augmentation does not create much discomfort in the breasts. Patients can expect mild to moderate discomfort in their liposuction sites, however. Swelling, bruising and tenderness are common side effects that mostly diminish in the first couple of weeks. Compression dressings will be placed around the liposuction sites, although compression will need to be avoided on the breasts while the body responds to the fat transfer.

Results will be noticeable immediately, both for the fat transfer and liposuction. Swelling can distort results and proportions, so it may take several months for final results to become fully apparent as swelling continues to subside. The body will absorb a portion of the transferred fat, so breasts may appear larger than expected at first and gradually shrink to the desired size. In general, patients can expect to retain 50 to 80 percent of the added volume.

Breast Augmentation Recovery

Recovery from breast augmentation will involve some swelling, bruising and discomfort. Most New York patients can return to work in about one week, although strenuous activities and exercise should be avoided for four to six weeks. You may need to wear post-surgical garments to minimize swelling and help your body adapt to its new size and shape. Dr. Everett will discuss postoperative care with you before your surgery so you can plan accordingly and ensure your body receives the rest and attention it needs while you recover.

Breast Augmentation Results

Some improvements in size and shape will be noticeable immediately. However, swelling can initially distort your results and proportions, so it may take several months for your final results to become apparent. Scars will fade from view over the months following your procedure. Once healing is complete, the results of your breast enhancement procedure will be long-lasting. Your breasts will look and feel natural, your body will be more proportionate and you can enjoy a renewed sense of satisfaction with your figure.

Q&A with Dr. Marc Everett

What are my options for breast implant incisions?

The incisions for breast implants can be located in three different areas: under the breast fold (inframammary), around the nipple (periareolar) or in the armpit (axillary). All three options allow for scars that are inconspicuous and will not distract from your new breasts. All options will be considered and discussed thoroughly with you before your procedure to ensure you receive results that meet your expectations.

What are my options for breast implant placement?

Breast implants can be placed either under the pectoral muscle (submuscular) or over the pectoral muscle (subglandular). Both options will be considered when deciding what is best for your body and your goals.

What are my options for breast implants?

The two main breast implant choices are silicone and saline implants. Both options are safe and provide satisfying results. Saline implants contain a nontoxic saltwater solution that can be filled and adjusted to each patient’s desired size. Silicone implants come in different sizes and are made of a thicker gel-like substance that can feel more natural than saline implants. Both implant options are constructed with a silicone shell. Alongside varying sizes and materials, implants also come in different shapes, textures and degrees of projection. Dr. Everett will help you identify which type of implants will achieve the most desirable outcome for you.

Do breast implants need to be replaced?

Implants are not designed to be lifelong devices, but they do not have a predetermined lifespan that warrants replacement every set amount of years. A future procedure may be required to replace an implant if its integrity is compromised or you experience complications. Breast implants come with warranties, the specifics of which differ depending on the manufacturer and the type of implant. You may also require a future procedure if aging, pregnancy, breastfeeding or weight loss changes your breasts and you are no longer satisfied with the way they look. So long as your implants continue to work for you, they will not need to be replaced.

What happens if an implant rupture occurs?

In the unlikely event of an implant rupture, you will simply need to schedule an appointment and come in for an evaluation. Saline will noticeably deflate as the saltwater solution leaks, but the body will harmlessly absorb the excess fluid. Silicone is made to hold its shape and will leak much more slowly but is also harmless if absorbed by the body. Because silicone ruptures gradually leak over the course of months, they may not be as immediately noticeable.

Which implant type, size and texture is best for me?

We will help you decide which options are best to meet your goals and provide the right size for your anatomy. All options will be considered and discussed thoroughly with you before your procedure to ensure you receive results that meet your expectations.

Is bruising normal following the procedure?

Yes, bruising and swelling are completely normal side effects of a breast augmentation. Most immediate symptoms heal within the first few weeks of recovery.

Will augmentation help me if my breasts are sagging?

Breast implants or fat transfer may create a more lifted appearance when minor sagging is present, but the effect is limited. A better option for correcting sagging is a breast lift. To address diminished volume and sagging simultaneously, a breast lift and augmentation can be done together in a single surgery. This reduces downtime, costs and the number of times the patient must be under anesthesia.

Can breast augmentation look natural?

Absolutely! Breast augmentation with implants and fat transfer breast augmentation can both produce beautiful, natural results that look tailor-made for your body. You can have a dramatic result that completely changes your figure or subtle improvements that enhance your silhouette without revealing the secret of how it happened. It’s up to you. Once you have explained your vision to Dr. Everett, will design a personalized surgical plan that enhances your natural beauty in just the right way.

What kind of bra will I need to wear following surgery?

Push-up bras and underwire bras should be avoided for about six weeks as your implants settle and incisions heal. These types of bras may damage your incision sites and affect the shape and position of your new implants. You should refrain from purchasing new and expensive bras during this time. Your breast size immediately following surgery will continue to change as swelling subsides over the span of two to three months.

If you had fat transfer breast augmentation, you will need to do the opposite. Compression garments and tight bras can harm the newly-transplanted fat cells and affect results. We will go over this in more detail prior to your surgery to ensure you are properly informed throughout the entire process.

Can I shower after my breast implant augmentation?

You should refrain from showering for the first 24 hours, as you will need to keep your compression dressing on for that long. Once you remove your compression dressing, you are free to shower and begin wearing supportive bras. Submerging in still water, including pools, hot tubs and baths, should be avoided until your incisions have healed over completely in about two to three weeks.

Which type of breast augmentation is better?

Both options have their advantages and can provide transformative results. The choice is ultimately up to you. Fat transfer breast augmentation has the benefit of being entirely natural and avoiding incisions in the breasts, but it requires the patient to have a sufficient amount of fat to be liposuctioned for transferring. Breast implants can produce more dramatic results and can be effective even for thin patients, but they require the patient to be comfortable with having medical devices in her body. Dr. Everett will go over both procedures with you during your initial consultation and help you make an informed decision.

Whether you’re in clothing, a swimsuit or nothing at all, you deserve to feel confident and beautiful. Breast augmentation with Dr. Everett can help you achieve a body you love in any state. New York City Breast Reduction In NYC

Breast reduction surgery begins with a comprehensive consultation with Dr. Everett, who has garnered a reputation as one of the best breast reduction surgeons in NYC. As this is the procedure he performs most often, it’s also the consultation he sees the most patients for.

During this initial meeting, Dr. Everett will explain the options available to you and educate you about the implications of future pregnancy, ability to breastfeed, changes in nipple sensation, and more so that you may make informed decisions about your procedure. Multiple techniques may be considered, but the method you and Dr. Everett ultimately choose will depend on multiple factors, including: the size of your breasts, the type of excess tissue present, and your individual goals. The objectives of the breast reduction surgery are threefold.

RESERVE YOUR VIP APPOINTMENT

The Three Goals of Breast Reduction according to Dr. Everett

1

The first objective is to remove anywhere between a third and two-thirds of your breast tissue, reducing the actual weight that neck, upper back and shoulders have to carry.

2

The second objective is the redistribution of the remaining breast tissue higher onto your chest wall. This changes the weight bearing dynamic and now your breasts will be seated high and pointed forward, facing your movements, instead of hanging low and away from you and working against your movements, i.e. “the pendulum effect.”

3

The third objective is to create two beautiful breast mounds that are nearly identical in size, shape and position. The third objective is never less important than the first two. In fact, Dr. Everett considers every single breast reduction to be a “Cosmetic Breast Reduction.” It doesn’t matter if your operation is covered by your insurance or paid for out of pocket.

Rapid Recovery

rapid recovery

New York breast reduction is easier than you would ever imagine it to be. NYC breast surgery is an outpatient surgery performed under general anesthesia. Dr. Everett also never uses drains in this operation, as he doesn’t feel there is an indication to do so.

Additionally, Dr. Everett utilizes the most cutting edge pain reduction techniques for breast reduction surgery. In fact, most of our patients do not take a single pain pill, and as long as your job doesn’t demand significant physical labor, you can return to work in 4-5 days.

The tensions on your neck and shoulders can disappear immediately and some patients improve their posture in weeks. You will notice results right away and will continue seeing the evolution of your breast surgery results over the next several months. Some subtle changes can continue for up to a year until your breasts are fully settled.

NYC Breast Surgery:
Reductions and Insurance

NYC

The cost of plastic surgery is something that many of our clients wonder about before they visit. Most health insurance plans do not cover elective procedures like cosmetic surgery. This means that no matter what the cost of your surgery is, you will likely need to pay out of pocket. There are some exceptions, however, and New York breast reduction surgery may be one.

In many cases, a breast reduction procedure alleviates unpleasant or painful symptoms that women experience as a result of having disproportionately large breasts. Consider the ways your breast size impacts your daily life and create a list that details how your breasts are problematic for your health and well-being. Women whose breasts are sizable enough to cause problems such as neck and shoulder pain, skin irritation or difficulty exercising may be eligible for breast reduction surgery that is partially or fully covered by their health insurance plan. It’s unlikely that your procedure will be covered if you have no symptoms and are seeking a breast reduction solely for cosmetic purposes.

BREAST REDUCTION INSURANCE VERIFICATION
If you aren’t sure whether your breasts are impacting your health, a visit with a visit to Dr. Everett or your primary care doctor for an exam can help bring any medical concerns to light.

The Procedure

the procedure

Breast reduction surgery in NYC begins with a consultation. During this initial meeting, Dr. Everett will explain the options available to you so that you may make informed decisions about your procedure. Multiple techniques can be utilized when performing breast reduction surgery. The method used for you will depend on the size of your breasts, the type of excess tissue present and your desired outcome.

To begin the procedure, Dr. Everett will make incisions in the designated areas. The nipple will then be adjusted to place it in a more upright and centered location. If necessary, the areola will be reduced at this point. Dr. Everett will then remove excess skin and tissue and reshape the remaining tissue, ensuring symmetry between both breasts. The incisions will be sutured closed to complete the procedure.

SEE PHOTO RESULTS
tai

Traditional or Anchor Incision

The traditional or anchor incision technique requires three incisions: one around the areola within the natural texture of the skin, one extending vertically from the areola to the natural crease beneath the breast and one horizontally underneath the fold of the breast. This method maximizes the amount of tissue removal possible and can treat moderate to severe sagging.

VL

Vertical or Lollipop

The vertical or lollipop incision technique utilizes two of the incisions from the traditional technique but avoids the horizontal incision beneath the breast. This is a newer method that allows for mild to moderate tissue removal, meaning it is not the best option for all patients.

Liposuction

Liposuction

The vertical or lollipop incision technique utilizes two of the incisions from the traditional technique but avoids the horizontal incision beneath the breast. This is a newer method that allows for mild to moderate tissue removal, meaning it is not the best option for all patients.

Recovery & Results

Expect to rest for about 48 hours after your procedure. Common side effects include swelling, bruising, soreness, numbness and discomfort that can last several hours. Some patients can return to work in one week, while others may need to wait two weeks before resuming their daily schedules. Plan to wear a sports bra for at least four weeks after your procedure. Underwire and push-up bras can harm your results and irritate your incisions while they heal. Dr. Everett will provide you with thorough postoperative instructions so you can ensure your body receives the care it needs to heal and deliver beautiful results.

Breast Reduction Results

Results will be noticeable right away and will continue to develop over the coming weeks. Swelling will make your breasts larger at first and they may temporarily appear asymmetrical if they heal at different rates. Final results are typically visible three to six months into recovery, although subtle changes in size can continue for up to one year. The scars will reach full maturity in about 12 to 18 months. Once your breasts have settled into their new size and shape, you can enjoy your size reduction — as well as improved self-confidence, relief from discomfort and a broader range of clothing options — well into the future.

Breast Reduction FAQ’s

Why is it called rapid recovery breast reduction?

Dr. Everett utilizes the most cutting-edge pain reduction techniques for breast reduction surgery.  In fact, most of our patients do not take a single pain pill, and as long as your job doesn’t demand significant physical labor, you can return to work in 4-5 days. Dr. Everett also never uses drains in this operation, as he doesn’t feel there is an indication to do so.

Am I a good candidate for breast reduction surgery?

Good candidates for breast reduction surgery are women who are in good health, do not smoke, are suffering from negative physical and mental effects due to overly large breasts, and whose breasts are finished developing. We can better determine if you are a good candidate after an in-person evaluation.

Which incision technique is best for me?

We will discuss this with you in detail after performing an in-person evaluation. Not every option is available to each patient. Sometimes the best method for patients may not correlate with their desires for minimal scarring, but we always emphasize placing a priority on results and improved quality of life, rather than the presence of minor scarring. We will help you make an informed incision during this part of the process so that you can be satisfied with your results.

How long before I can go swimming or take a bath?

Once your surgical bandages have been removed, you are free to shower and get your incisions wet. However, you should refrain from submerging your breasts until your incisions have fully healed. Avoid swimming or taking a bath for at least two days following surgery.

Will I be able to breastfeed after breast reduction surgery?

Breast reduction surgery can make breastfeeding more difficult later in life. Depending on the method used for the surgery, breastfeeding may not be an option for all patients following breast reduction. We will go over this with you more in-depth before your surgery and take every precaution necessary to both provide optimal results and retain your ability to breastfeed if possible.

How long will results last?

You can enjoy your size reduction following surgery well into the future. We only perform breast reduction after the patient’s breasts have stopped developing, so you will not need to worry about returning to your pre-surgery size. Pregnancy and weight gain can affect your results, however, since both can lead to an increase in breast size. We can discuss this in more detail during an initial consultation.

What kind of bra will I need to wear following surgery?

You should plan on wearing a sports bra for at least four weeks after your procedure. Underwire and push-up bras can harm your results and also irritate incisions while they heal. You should refrain from purchasing new and expensive bras until most of your swelling has diminished, around two or three months into your recovery.
